Why Umbrellas?

The Problem
The Solution
The Problem
1.
1 billion umbrellas are broken, lost, discarded each year (worldwide)
2.
The nylon canopies may take up to 1,000 years to biodegrade.
3.
Umbrellas are not designed to last with an average lifespan of 6 months.
4.
The metal, if you assume a mass of 240 grams per umbrella, would total 240,000 tons of metal waste per year. That’s the equivalent amount of metal to build four Sydney Harbour Bridge’s.
5.
Umbrellas are made from plastics, metals and nylon. They are difficult to dissemble into their constituent materials and therefore rarely recycled.
The Solution
1.
Anti takes discarded, lost and broken umbrellas and transforms them into desirable products.
2.
Our designs are made from a mixture of materials, some up-cycled (umbrellas), recycled and biodegradable with only 5% of the product material coming from virgin materials.
3.
Our designs are built to last years (instead of months as originally intended for the umbrella design).
4.
We disassemble all umbrellas into their separate materials groups (e.g. plastics, metals, polyester) and make new products that are easier to disassemble than the umbrella in its original state.
5.
Anti takes discarded, lost and broken umbrellas and transforms them into desirable products.
6.
We are always looking at ways to improve our designs and reduce the 5% of virgin material to 0%.
